A Small Devotional Effort for Goddess Mahalakshmi
SaiMahalakshmi.com has been part of my devotional journey for more than 20 years. I created this website to share my love for Goddess Mahalakshmi, her blessings, Mahalakshmi Pooja, chanting and simple ways in which devotees can remember her in everyday life.
Recently, I felt inspired through a dream connected with Shirdi Sai Baba to once again make Goddess Mahalakshmi posters available through this website. Over the years, I had tried a few times to create and sell devotional posters, but those efforts did not really work out.
This time, I want to do it very simply. I do not want SaiMahalakshmi.com to become only a store. The main purpose of this website will always remain the same: to spread devotion towards Goddess Mahalakshmi.
If someone likes a poster and wishes to buy it, I am grateful. If no one buys anything, I am still happy that another person may have seen the beautiful form of Mahalakshmi, remembered her name, read a prayer or spent a few peaceful moments thinking about the Divine Mother.
One sincere request: Please do not buy any poster, product or anything else from this website if you cannot comfortably afford it. Devotion should never become a financial burden. You do not need to buy anything to receive the blessings of Goddess Mahalakshmi. A simple prayer offered with love is enough.
My Love for Goddess Mahalakshmi
My love for Goddess Mahalakshmi has always been very special. Like many devotees, I once thought of Mahalakshmi mainly as the Goddess who blesses us with wealth and prosperity. But gradually, my understanding changed.
I began to feel that Mahalakshmi is much more than the Goddess of money. To me, she became a caring Divine Mother who gave me peace during difficult times, hope when I was worried about my future, and the strength to keep moving forward.
Over time, I also began to understand that prosperity is not only about money. Peace is prosperity. Good health is prosperity. Food, knowledge, courage, a peaceful family and the strength to continue after a setback are also forms of prosperity. When these blessings come together, life itself becomes a form of Aishwaryam.
Remembering Mahalakshmi Every Day
From around 2005, I developed the habit of regularly reciting Sri Mahalakshmi Ashtakam. There were times when I repeated the Ashtakam many times continuously.
Sometimes, while walking around the Dhuni, the sacred fire, in the Sai Baba temple near my place, I would mentally imagine Goddess Mahalakshmi and repeat the Mahalakshmi Ashtakam within myself. Those were very peaceful moments.
For a few minutes, the mind would stop thinking about career, money, problems or the future. There would only be remembrance. That experience taught me that prayer is not only about asking God for something. Prayer can also help us become quiet and remember that there is something greater than our immediate worries.

The following prayer has remained very close to my heart. I encourage devotees to read it peacefully and with devotion. You do not have to rush or worry about perfect pronunciation. Read slowly and remember that you are calling upon Goddess Mahalakshmi.

What This Prayer Means to Me
The Mahalakshmi Ashtakam praises Goddess Mahalakshmi as the Divine Mother who removes sorrow and negativity and blesses devotees with wisdom, strength, prosperity and grace.
It describes her as the one who removes sorrow, gives wisdom and understanding, blesses devotees with prosperity, represents the primordial Divine Shakti, sits upon the lotus and is worshipped as the Mother of the universe.
For me, this prayer is also a reminder that Mahalakshmi is not limited to material wealth. Her blessings can come as money, an opportunity, clarity, protection from a wrong decision, courage during a difficult time or simply peace of mind.
Make the Prayer Part of Your Life
If you like the Mahalakshmi Ashtakam, try reading it regularly. After some time, you may naturally begin to remember portions of it and mentally chant it while walking, travelling, sitting quietly or doing simple daily work.
Do not turn chanting into pressure. There is no need to keep thinking about how many times you have completed it. Even one sincere recitation can be meaningful when the mind is peaceful. The purpose is simply to remember Mahalakshmi.
My Understanding of Rituals
Over the years, I have written and shared a simple Mahalakshmi Pooja on this website. There are already many traditional forms of Lakshmi worship, including well-known Lakshmi vratas and poojas followed by different families and traditions, and I respect them.
The Mahalakshmi Pooja shared on this website is simply my devotional effort to make worship easy for an ordinary person. To me, rituals are a way of expressing devotion. Lighting a lamp helps us remember divine light, offering a flower helps us express love, offering food teaches gratitude, and reciting a mantra helps us focus the mind.
Helping someone after the pooja also reminds us that blessings should be shared. But no ritual should become a business transaction with God. Instead of thinking, “I performed this pooja, so Goddess Mahalakshmi must give me what I asked for,” we may simply pray, “Mahalakshmi, please guide me towards what is good for my life.”
Faith Without Fear
Many people come to Goddess Mahalakshmi when they are worried about career, business, money, debt, family, marriage, children or their future. There is nothing wrong with praying during difficult times. We are human, and we naturally seek divine help when we are worried.
But prayer should gradually give us strength instead of creating more fear. Do not be frightened into believing that something terrible will happen if you miss a ritual, and do not spend money you cannot afford in the name of devotion.
Do not think that expensive offerings bring greater blessings. A lamp, a flower and a sincere prayer are enough.
Why I Am Creating Mahalakshmi Posters Again
Many years ago, I also tried creating a website where I could make devotional posters available. I made similar attempts from time to time over the years, but those efforts did not succeed commercially.
For a long time, I simply continued maintaining my devotional websites and sharing what I could. Recently, I felt inspired once again through a dream associated with Shirdi Sai Baba to create and offer Mahalakshmi devotional posters.
So I decided to use SaiMahalakshmi.com for that purpose as well, but I want to keep this effort very subtle. I do not want anyone to feel pressured to buy.
If you genuinely love one of the paintings and would like to keep it in your home, pooja room or workplace, you are welcome to purchase it. But if buying a poster causes even a little financial difficulty, please do not buy it.
You can simply visit the website, look at the image of Mahalakshmi and pray. That itself makes this website meaningful to me.
The Paintings
The Mahalakshmi paintings I share here are created with a simple devotional intention. I want the Divine Mother to appear peaceful, compassionate, graceful, traditional and filled with divine warmth.
When someone looks at a painting of Goddess Mahalakshmi, I hope the first feeling is not, “This is a beautiful product.” I hope the feeling is, “Mahalakshmi looks peaceful. Let me remember her for a moment.”
That moment of remembrance is more valuable to me than a sale.
What Prosperity Means to Me Today
When I was younger, I may also have thought prosperity meant becoming successful and wealthy. Today, I see it differently.
I still pray for prosperity because we all need money to live, care for our family, and meet responsibilities such as food, shelter, education and health. There is nothing wrong with praying for financial well-being.
But I now feel that complete prosperity means much more. May we have enough money to live with dignity, enough wisdom not to waste it, enough courage to work for a better future, enough peace to enjoy what we already have, and enough compassion to help another person.
That is the kind of prosperity I pray to Mahalakshmi for.

SaiMahalakshmi.com is therefore a combination of two simple things. It is a devotional website where I share Mahalakshmi prayers, chanting, pooja and my experiences.
It is now also a small place where devotees who genuinely wish to do so can purchase Mahalakshmi posters.
The devotional part comes first.
The store comes second.
That is how I hope to keep it.
My Prayer for You
If you arrived here because you are worried about your career, business, finances or family, I sincerely hope things improve for you.
Before asking Mahalakshmi only for money, sit quietly for a moment, look at her and tell her everything. Then simply say:
“Mother Mahalakshmi, please show me light.”
Maybe that light comes as an opportunity, courage, a new idea, another person, patience or prosperity. We do not always know.
Continue your efforts, continue your prayers and, whenever possible, continue doing something kind for others.
